SS17 Trends: Denim Dresses
Here at the Lilac Room, we like to think we’re trendsetters, not trend followers. However, this season we’ve tapped into one of the biggest catwalk looks of SS17. Denim dresses. It was the star of the show from London to Milan (stopping off briefly for Hastings Fat Tuesday, of course) and all of our favourite brands have got in on the act too…
We’re loving the Burke denim dress from sister brand Valley of the Dolls. The cross straps and tabard style front adds a youthful twist to the classic style. We think it looks great worn with a striped long sleeve top and brogues for cooler days. And in the summer, wear it with a simple white tee and colourful sandals for offbeat sophistication. Our Fly sandals would be the perfect thing to finish this look.
When it comes to denim dresses, Thought has given us not one but three to choose from. Our Afreda pinafore has been flying out of the shop – no wonder, it looks as good as it feels! Easy to wear, easy to wash and endlessly chic, it’s guaranteed to be a summer hit. Wear it now over a pretty shirt or a long-sleeved tee, then ditch the layers for warm days by the beach.
Our Frances denim shirt dress has been another winner so far this season. Great for layering over stripes (have you noticed how much we love a stripe yet?!) and looks just as fab with a colourful cardi worn over the top. Try the fab Idie cardigan from Louche in mustard, or the Mae version by Emily & Fin.
The Iris denim midi dress is a chic option for sunny days. The extra long belt will tie around twice to add interest, while the lightweight Tencel material makes it ideal for bright summer days by the beach. Try wearing with our fab Maruti shoes and a bright scarf for everyday luxury.
Not just dresses…
Head over to Italian label Paradiso Couture to browse our frilled denim tunics, available in a dark and light wash. Wear over leggings to keep the seaside breeze at bay, then swap over to flowing linen trousers come the high summer.
